Digital voice for your home.

Frequently asked questions.

Can I keep my home phone number?

Yes, that’s not a problem, we will take care of preserving your existing home phone number by transferring it from your current provider. We will also pay the associated charges so there will be no cost to you.

Can I use my existing phone?

Yes, in most cases your existing phone can be used for digital voice, but it will probably need the addition of a thing called an ATA (analogue telephone adapter). This is a small box that plugs into your router on one side and your phone on the other. It converts your analogue phone signal to digital data for transmission over the internet.

Can I have a mobile app and a home phone?

Yes, you can have a physical phone at home and the mobile app connected to the same phone number. When someone calls you, both devices will ring. So if you are in the garden or out and about with your mobile you will never have to miss a call.

Will the mobile phone app really work anywhere?

As long as you have a good internet connection, then yes. Wherever you are in the world you can make and receive calls on your home phone number.

Are there any roaming charges?

No, you can use the mobile app to make calls to the UK from anywhere in the world and they will be part of your inclusive minutes. And unlike some mobile providers we will not charge for any calls made to you when you are out of the country.

What’s the call quality like?

As long as you have a decent internet connection there should be a noticeable improvement in call quality. We use HD voice technology throughout our platform and with the internet providing far more bandwidth than copper analogue lines it will be an end to fuzzy and muffled calls.

Is it cheaper?

Should be, with digital voice there is no need for an analogue phone line and so no need to pay line rental. BT will be charging £28.40 per month line rental from March 2024. The saving on that alone will pay for the whole family to have digital voice. That coupled with our call inclusive plans should see some big savings for many households.

Can I still call emergency services?

Yes, you can call any of the emergency services numbers just as you would at the moment.

Will it work in a power cut?

The simple answer is No. If your router losses’ power or your internet connection goes offline for any reason you will not be able to use your digital phone.
However, if you have a data allowance on your mobile phone you would be able to use the mobile app via the mobile phone network.

Can I have a new phone number?

We can provide you with a new phone number for any geographical location in the UK. You can also have additional numbers on your account. So that, if for example, you run a business from home you could have a separate number for your business calls. Or you could have different numbers for each member of the family.

What if I move house?

That’s easy, you take your phone to your new home and plug it into the router. Your number will move with you. And if you want a new number with a different area code, we can provide that as well.

I’m not technical, is it difficult to set up?

Absolutely not, in fact it could not be easier to move to digital voice. Any adapters or phones that we supply will come pre-configured to connect to your service and only need to be plugged into your router. And in the case of the mobile app you will just need to log in with the credentials we supply.
